# GitHubCard > GitHubCard is a visual GitHub profile and repository card designer. Create a > polished card from public GitHub data, then export it as SVG or PNG or embed > it in a README, portfolio, website, blog, or social post. ## Product GitHubCard combines a drag-and-drop canvas with live GitHub widgets. Profile cards can show stats, contribution streaks, top languages, repositories, activity, and custom text. Repository cards can show stars, forks, watchers, languages, topics, license, contributors, star history, commit activity, and code frequency. Core exports and embeds: - SVG for crisp, portable README and website embeds. - PNG for portfolios, social previews, and platforms with limited SVG support. - Live profile cards at `https://githubcard.com/{username}.svg`. - Live repository cards at `https://githubcard.com/{owner}/{repo}.svg`. - Fixed published snapshots at `https://githubcard.com/g/{id}.svg` or `https://githubcard.com/g/{id}.png`. ## Core pages - [GitHubCard home](https://githubcard.com/): product overview and card builder. - [Profile card generator](https://githubcard.com/~profile-card): design a GitHub profile card with stats, languages, streaks, and live widgets. - [Repository card generator](https://githubcard.com/~repo-card): design a GitHub repository card with project and activity signals. - [Pricing](https://githubcard.com/~pricing): GitHubCard is free; Pro Lifetime is a one-time $19 USD payment (no subscription) for premium backgrounds, premium fonts, watermark-free and high-resolution (4x) exports, and Pro templates. - [Trending](https://githubcard.com/~trending): discover currently trending GitHub repositories with the GitHubCard browser extension. - [Blog](https://githubcard.com/blog): guides for GitHub READMEs, profile cards, repository cards, embeds, and developer portfolios. ## How to use 1. Open the profile or repository card generator. 2. Enter a public GitHub username or `owner/repository`. 3. Choose widgets and arrange them on the canvas. 4. Export SVG or PNG, or publish a stable snapshot for an embed. For Markdown, use a live card while you want data to update automatically: ```md ![GitHub profile card](https://githubcard.com/yourname.svg) ![GitHub repository card](https://githubcard.com/owner/repository.svg) ``` Use a published `/g/{id}.svg` or `/g/{id}.png` URL when an embed must remain a stable snapshot. Published links are immutable. To create an updated snapshot, start a new design and publish it to get a new URL. ## Data and access GitHubCard reads public GitHub profile and repository data. Previewing default cards does not require an account. GitHub sign-in is required to save, publish, update, or manage custom designs. Private repositories are not rendered by the public card routes. ## Key guides - [GPRM alternative](https://githubcard.com/blog/gprm-alternative?lang=en): honest comparison of GitHubCard vs Profile README Maker (GPRM).
